No One Should
Face Illness Alone
The Mitzvah of Bikur Cholim
Visiting and caring for the sick is deeply rooted in Jewish tradition and law. In Parshat Vayera, Hashem Himself visited Avraham Avinu as he recovered from his circumcision:
“And Hashem appeared to him in the plains of Mamre, as he sat at the entrance of the tent in the heat of the day.” (Genesis 18:1)
Just as Hashem visited the sick, we are commanded to do the same.
At Or Lacholeh, we ensure that no one in Israel battles illness alone. From hot meals and emotional support to emergency aid and respite care, we step in when families need it most.
You can be their miracle. Stand with Israel’s sick & their families today.
The Power of Prayer – Saying Tehillim for the Sick
Bikur Cholim extends beyond physically visiting the sick. One of the greatest acts of kindness you can do for someone facing illness is to pray for them.
Reciting Tehillim (Psalms) has been a long-standing Jewish tradition, bringing comfort, hope, and healing to the sick and their families.
“A prayer for the afflicted when he is faint and pours out his complaint before Hashem.” (Tehillim 102:1)
