Miri Schreiber is the new Global CEO of Or Lacholeh, an organization with a mission that has been close to her heart for over 16 years. Prior to making aliyah and being the Assistant Director of Yad Ezra V’Shulamit, Miri established a Bikur Cholim organization in Cincinnati, Ohio, with the goal of supporting Jewish families from around the world who were seeking medical treatment, particularly at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the Cincinnati Shriners Burn Institute.
Building a Network of Support for Jewish Families
Volunteering tirelessly, Miri coordinated a wide range of services for these families, from guest intake to long-term lodging, medical advocacy, insurance, travel arrangements, meals, and time-sensitive appointments. Her dedication went beyond the basics—she helped visiting families with everything from schooling, camps, and healthcare to respite care, free cars, and language services. Miri also created a community-wide website to assist guests and worked closely with social workers, hospital administration, and clergy to ensure that both medical and religious needs were met.

Forming Valuable Partnerships
Miri’s efforts formed valuable partnerships with organizations such as the local Cincinnati Jewish Family Services, Chai Lifeline, Eli Rowe of Hatzolah Air, and Issac Lieder of Vital One. She played a key role in securing donations, organizing events, and developing helpful resources like welcome manuals and gift baskets to make families feel at home during their difficult journeys.
Returning to a Lifelong Mission
In 2012, Miri fulfilled her lifelong dream of making aliyah to Israel, leaving behind her beloved organization with the hope of one day returning to continue this vital and holy work. Today, as she once again returns to this mission, Miri is filled with gratitude and joy, ready to continue supporting those in need with renewed strength and purpose.
